Different kinds of service

1Corinthians 12 talks bout the gifts of the Spirit and how they are all put in the body as He sees fit. Recently I read this again and realized that it talks about different kinds of service (NIV). That got me thinking down a new path. We always assume that service is in and to the body of Christ, but when Jesus performed service, it was most often outside of the "church". So what does that mean about my service? Where is it supposed to be? Can it be in the body and not in the church building? How does it connect/conflict with the Great Commission and reaching the lost? It can't contradict it; it must intersect it or compliment it or something. More people work outside the "church" than in it, yet we give the impression that the professional church leaders know more about service than anyone else. Where does that come from? Does a divinity degree make that person's minstry more valuable? Does it even make them more knowledgeable? Isn't it often knowledge that gets us into trouble. I am trying to get this sorted out partly because my life has taken a turn that I didn't expect. I am re-evaluating some priorities and finding a new depth to my relationship with the Lord. Not an easy road, but a great journey.

A new job is like a new life. I am creating a new thing altogether. I am interactng with a whole new set of people and will have less time for some of the important people in my life. I don't like it. THere's that death thing again. Will those relationships die a slow death, or will their be some opportunity to maintain them? Who will make the effort? Jesus said He came to give us Life, and that abundantly. Yet that life emcompasses death too - first His, and now ours, daily. Nope Not the easy road!!

Beginnings

This is a beginning. My life has been full of new beginnings. Some of them start with a death, some come more easily. But life does happen - the way it was planned from the beginning. The way He meant it to be
